The Repairer of Reputations

Welcome to your Adventure Log!
A blog for your campaign

Every campaign gets an Adventure Log, a blog for your adventures!

While the wiki is great for organizing your campaign world, it’s not the best way to chronicle your adventures. For that purpose, you need a blog!

The Adventure Log will allow you to chronologically order the happenings of your campaign. It serves as the record of what has passed. After each gaming session, come to the Adventure Log and write up what happened. In time, it will grow into a great story!

Best of all, each Adventure Log post is also a wiki page! You can link back and forth with your wiki, characters, and so forth as you wish.

One final tip: Before you jump in and try to write up the entire history for your campaign, take a deep breath. Rather than spending days writing and getting exhausted, I would suggest writing a quick “Story So Far” with only a summary. Then, get back to gaming! Grow your Adventure Log over time, rather than all at once.

Session 4

Opening

  • Darrend de Valentos speaks of the coming Council, which will happen in a month time, where a King of Crescentium will be elected
  • House Valentos’ candidate, Toldric Greyflanks, has been away for more than 3 months, on pilgrimage to the Silent Rocks.
  • The Silent Rocks is a holy Ta’ashim site, where Vakir the Smith used to teach. He was illiterate and his teachings was recorded by his scribe, Suhair the Silent. Hence the name the ‘Silent Rocks’
  • The other candidates are fielded by House Sinfrinti, House Lantos, the New Selentine Empire (a general by the name of Maximus)… just to name a few.
  • Darrend also mentioned that Lectus has a breakthrough in investigating the tome brought back from the Shadowed Vales.

Ambush

  • Lectus sent a mental message to Paladius to inform him that there might be an attempt on the party’s life.
  • A group of Valentos soldiers offer to escort the party; when assassins appear at the marketplace, the soldiers turn on the party.
  • The party captures one assassin; interrogation reveals that they are sent by the Spider, and more will be after them. There may also be a mole in House Valentos.

At Lectus

  • Lectus explains the origins of Ninsun, the Akkidian and Solonus Empires’ worship of Old Gods and how the tome describe that there is more than just one ‘Ninsun’, and that they’re a race of creatures, than a single entity.
  • Many nobles up north are having visions of crusades and hence coming south. Lectus speculates that it may be due to the wine from the Shadowed Vale, which is tainted by a spawn of Ninsun.
  • To stop the visions, and hence the wave of crusaders, it is necessary to destroy Ninsun.
  • When the Illuminate warred against the Akkidian and Solonus kingdoms, he had to contend with the magic of the Old Gods too.
  • Vakir the Smith could forge weapons that are proof against those ‘deities’.
  • However most of his weapons are lost; but the secrets to their making is buried in his tomb, at the Silent Rocks.
  • As the party leave, Lectus mentions Fatimah of the Jasmine Hill; she is a Mystic who specializes in Transposition.

Research

  • John is contacted by Muse; Muse gave a message to John. Due to the upcoming council, security is tighten and the Hidden Knife’s usual contacts are lying low.
  • There is strong support for the crusades back north. “The peasants are bled dry” but they don’t seem to mind. Voltar the Iron-Handed, the King of Elleseland’s brother, is marching south with 50,000 men (or so the rumours claim; Likely they are fielding only 5,000)
  • John is given instructions to aid in crowning Toldric King of Crescentium.
  • Paladius researched the Silent Rock and realized
    1. There was no water at the Silent Rocks. Now there is a flowing spring.
    2. Vakir the Smith was an obscure Ta’ashim saint; he is now openly revered because of a blacksmith having a vision of a fallen meteor there, and he went to there investigate, and hence discover the Silent Rocks.
    3. Vakir’s wife died from childbirth, and the child died. She may have became an Ardat Lili, a spirit-demon of jealously and desires.
    4. Such demon cannot be easily banished; they have an anchor in the physical world, and that anchor must be destroyed. The anchor is usually something of value or worth to the demon.
  • Kreiss and Hishan investigate on ways to protect themselves from the demon, and how to destroy it. Common superstition is that wearing a piece of the Holy Text around the neck, like an amulet is effective. Who knows?

Fatimah

  • Fatimah offers the party another route to reach the Silent Rocks – through Sakan’athur’s World Portal.
  • The World Portal allows one to move from one place to another in a short time; however only a few entrances and exits now exist.
  • When three of Sakan’athur’s disciples betrayed him by warping in enemies into the chambers the Portal was in, Sakan’athur collapsed the entrance, activated the traps and summon an avatar of the Demon Wolf Fengris.
  • The World Portal will also need a pawn of mana to activate; Fatimah mentions that it should be easy to find in the ruins that houses a magical construct.
  • The group agrees to try, but Paladius may want to return to the 4th Circle of Aqunias to bring more manpower
  • Fatimah passes a guidestone to Paladius. It’s like a magnetic rod hung from a string, but except that it will always point towards the ruins of an entrance to the World Portal.
  • The World Portal is in the middle of a the deserts, south of Crescentium.
  • Time to reach the Silent Rocks is estimated to be 5 days to a week if the party takes this route.
  • Fatimah also passes a rusted iron key to Paladius; when any door is opened with this key (with a suitable lock!), it will become a portal leading back to the 4th Circle of Aquinas.

Session 4 part 3
The World Portal

Entering the World Portal

  • Paladius memorised the incantation to activate the entrance to the World Portal. It may come in useful later.
  • Activating the Portal requires a pawn of Mana.

The World Portal

  • The party arrived in a locked cell; John picked the lock open
  • Corpses from a battle that took place here raised up to attack them. Lore made a notice of the insignias and symbols of their armor and shield.
  • Those corpses are possessed by corpse-worms, a minor demonic entity.
  • John found an enchanted Throwing Dagger of Returning. It functions as an enchanted weapon. Three times per day he can throw it and have it to returned to him by saying the command word “Return”. The dagger is worth 1,000 Item Points.
  • Corpse worms are source of mana; 3 of one whole corpse = 1 pawn
  • The party found Akanesh in the Library. He tried to become a lich but failed when a champion of a holy order attacked him. Hishan had the champion’s sword.
  • Paladius also took time to convert a sentry ward to become his.
  • Akanesh made John to swear an oath that that John will take a soul jar, Akanesh will enter the jar, and John will bring the soul jar through the portal.
  • John swore to “Bring your soul jar through the portal with me”
  • Akanesh then pointed the party to where an armoury is.
  • Akanesh, when asked about the Demon Wolf Fengris, said that it took him, Mizzur and Thannor to seal the wolf inside a chamber. The wards could be weakened after all the years.
  • In the World Portal, the party ran into the ghosts of Mizzur and Thannor. They said they would protect John from the fallout of Akanesh’s oath if he swore to bring them through the Portal, and not Akanesh.
  • John swore the same oath to the ghosts.
  • In the armoury, the party found Silversteel weapons. They function as +1 to hit, and inflicts +1 damage. Against demons and ghosts, they function as magical weapon, but wouldn’t have the bonus to-hit and damage. Each of those weapons has 1,500 Item Points.

Lurker Demon

  • The party then attempted to retrieve the Soul Jar from the Ritual Room, which is the anchor for a Lurker Demon
  • Upon talking to the Demon, the party learnt that a summoner called the Demon here, but died before he could complete a spell. Brandon searched the corpse of a summoner and took a focus and was possessed. He commanded the Demon to break free of the circle.
  • The Lurker Demon split into two and cast magical darkness in the whole room.
  • Lore managed to stun Brandon, causing the focus to fall and break. This free Brandon from his possession.
  • During the course of combat, Yousuf was slain. Kreiss was incapacitated, but Brandon managed to administered first-aid to stabilize her.
  • Hishan wielded the rusted, rune-engraved sword he took from the library against the demon, and it flared into white flame. It does 3d6 damage vs. demons (and probably undead too). Perhaps the champion who wielded it last time was an undead hunter. The sword is 1,000 Item Points. (Note to Hishan – you are above Item Points budget, you got to discard something)
  • Paladius use a heavy bolt of fire to destroy one demon.
  • With Kreiss down, and Yousuf slain, John grabbed the Soul Jar and ran to the library. He told Akanesh to quickly transfer his soul there, but Akanesh, not long to magic after a long time, took a while.
  • The Lurker Demon chased after John. An epic chase ensured.
  • Twice the Demon had John in its grasp, but John managed to twist free.
  • The last time John was free, he ducked under the demon and ran. Kreiss caught up, and pressed an attack. With a mighty charge she swung the Silversteel Axe at the Demon, and it into twain, from the head to the torso.
  • But before the party can recover and celebrate their victory over the Lurker Demon, Paladius felt a large, powerful demon activating the sentry ward. Is the Demon Wolf Fengris?
